Is it possible to be spiritual and kinky?

A good friend asked me this question recently. “I certainly hope so”, I replied.

For the past year, I’ve endured an incredibly challenging situation in my personal life. If I could give a TED talk about it, the title would be: “My friend became my biggest bully and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

In very trying circumstances, there are only two real choices available: either sink or swim. I opted to swim and turn a negative situation into a positive one. It wasn’t easy, but I felt as though there was no alternative. Apparently, it was the universe’s plan to lead me towards a spiritual path. Although I’ve always been quite a mindful and zen person, I became inspired to become increasingly serious about my day-to-day practice.

I’m exploring the teachings of Sadhguru, Eckhart Tolle and other spiritual guides. The message they promote is, invariably, the same: the here and now, love over fear, gratitude, the law of attraction and karma.

One particular challenge has been letting go of my ego. This makes my work easier somehow. I now feel as though placing value upon other people’s opinion of me is a distraction. The objective of my work isn’t about gaining personal fame or popularity. My mission is to raise orgasmic awareness and talk about meaningful sex on a mainstream platform. To be honest, I’ve become indifferent to the erotic sector niche and its sordid reputation. That’s not how I see – or wish to portray – sex. I think sexuality is a natural and healthy component of a balanced life.

Being spiritually committed means that veganism makes more sense now than ever. Previously, my motives for following a plant-based diet were related to health, the environment and animal rights. Now, however, I believe that everything I consume becomes an integral part of me. I don’t want to absorb bad energy, pain or suffering.

But, despite all this, I still want to be bad sometimes.

I’ve joined a Zen group and some of my friends there are on a similar journey to my own: we are seeking our most essential and authentic selves. But, we are also single and horny as fuck. I’m trying to organise a special spiritual speed-networking event that will enable us to facilitate the deep connections that we all crave so much. In other words, we will ask better questions in order to get to know someone. Anything would be an improvement on: “what are you doing in Barcelona?”, “where are you from?” and the like.

So, going back to the question: can you be spiritual and kinky?

The MAZE collection from Bijoux indiscrets allows me to be just that.

“Exciting paths that unveil secret directions with one true end: finding your true self”  the packaging reads.

This philosophy certainly conforms with my current spiritual journey. I’m surrendering to the universe and seeing where it chooses to take me. It will lead me, hopefully, into the arms of someone who is as blissed-out and kinky as I am.

I have just received some new pieces from the Bijoux Indiscrets MAZE collection. They include: harnesses, a flogger, garters and more. The range has been approved by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.)

My vegan life isn’t just about what I eat. I have recently begun to veganise my wardrobe. Coats, shoes, belts and anything made from leather just had to go.

When it comes to BDSM, I’m pleased to announce that my whole collection is vegan-friendly. Using real leather as part of my kinky lifestyle now seems like the ultimate in capricious self-indulgence. Why should any animal suffer, just so that I can better illustrate my sexual preferences? I just can’t live with that hypocrisy.

The MAZE collection is available in black or tan and it all feels very reminiscent of leather. All of the accessories can be worn over clothes to spice up your eveningwear. Or, you can simply adorn your naked body with them instead. They are adjustable to fit all sizes.

I will definitely choose something from the MAZE collection to wear at my next spiritual meeting. In that way, I’ll hope to explore the laws of attraction more fully and find someone who is both spiritual and kinky.
