Podophilia or foot fetishism describes a popular and complex fetish. For foot fetishists in general, the foot duplicates the attractions of an entire sexualised body but in a more compact form. Some features of feet that receive particular attention are: their overall shape and size, toes, arches, soles and whether they are clean or dirty.
Toes, for instance, can be singled out for their length, plumpness or the space between the big toe and one next to it. This is known as ‘toe cleavage’.
